What I Wore Wednesday: Cats and Pink Pops

Sometimes a sunny day just makes you want to throw on your pink shoes and cat dress and go frolicking.  No?  You don't throw on your hot pink topsiders and cat print frock at the first sight of sunshine?  Well, then what do you do? 

I usually don't like to go too matchy matchy with my accessories, but I just felt like the pops of pink the jewelry and shoes were perfect for this dress.  Aside from the abstract cat heads, this dress is pretty neutral, so I always feel like I need to liven it up.  Maybe I am the first person ever that feels the need to make a cat print dress even quirkier.

Obviously, I like variety in my wardrobe.  So, I think it goes without saying that I also like variety in my eyewear.  I have amassed quite a collection of sunglasses over the years, but I only owned one pair of eyeglasses.  Well, until I was contacted by Coastal.com to review a pair of Derek Cardigan Eyeglasses.

Ordering my glasses was super easy.  I just had to get my prescription from my eye doctor and enter all the information online.  My glasses showed up a few days later and I could not be happier with them!  I wanted some funkier eyeglasses, something a little more unique than my everyday pair.  I've always wanted a pair of cat-eye glasses, but never wanted to shell out the cash.  I didn't feel bad experimenting because all the glasses are so cheap!  The pair I purchased from my eye doctor's store (like a sucker) cost me almost $400!!!
With Coastal.com if I want another pair I won't have to max out my credit card or take out a loan for a new pair of specs.  The frames are really sturdy, which is great because I will inevitably sit on these.  I love the vintage vibe in the Derek Cardigan Eyeglasses and the little multiplication and division signs on the edges (that appear to be the signature of the line) are pretty darn cute.  I feel much cooler than I really am while wearing these glasses.

Weekend Update: Patterned Shorts

This weekend was a patterned shorts kind of weekend, full of relaxing and BBQ-ing.  After a whole week of work (and rain), sometimes you just don't feel like putting on real pants.  However society dictates that I wear pants in public...and my mother demands that I wear pants in her house.  That's where these shorts come in.  At least I had the sense enough to still be slightly fashionable adding some accessories and pattern mixing.

Each week, Bonnie or I choose our favorite outfit from the week before.  My fav from last week was this cut-out floral dress from River City Chic.  I love everything about this dress.  The floral pattern and flutter sleeves give it an element of sweetness, but the slit and teeny cut out makes it sexy (without revealing too much skin).

And now that this post is all written...I realize that I got this dress at Marshall's, not TJ Maxx.  There is still some magic in this old blog.
